I have been interested in genealogy for about 25 years, but only began serious research 5 years ago. My main family names are:
Bold textHARRISBold text Portsmouth and Wiltshire Bold text'RANDALLBold text Surrey and Warwickshire Bold textBOXALLBold text Surrey and Sussex Bold textBLUNDENBold text Suffolk 'Bold textNOAKESBold text Moreton, Essex Bold textJAMESBold text Churchill, Oxfordshire Bold textGALEBold text Esher, Surrey Bold textSMITHBold text East Clandon, Surrey Bold textSHEPPARDBold text Bath, Somerset Bold textSARGENTBold text Looe, Cornwall Bold textDUTTONBold text Boston, Lincolnshire Bold textLASTBold text Suffolk Bold textGODBOLDBold text Suffolk Bold textNUNNBold text Suffolk and London Bold textPARRBold text Suffolk and London Bold textPOACHERBold text Suffolk
My most enduring brick wall involves Caroline Bold textMANDLEBold text, (Mandell/Mantle/Mantell), possibly from Hampshire, or possibly the Channel Islands, c 1800-1840
Then there is the Irish side, of which I know only that my Irish grandparents were called Thomas Bold textMCDERMOTTBold text and 'Mary Ann Bold textO'HARABold text, who lived (and may have been born) in Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim.
Another big area of interest is the Bold textSCOTTBold text family, who were Lords of Manor of Camberwell c 1400-1600, and who may, or may not have been related or associated with the Scott dynasty at Brabourne, Kent. The Camberwell family had either died out or fragmented completely by late 1600's, but with one line (I think!) migrating down to Horne in Surrey to become "gentlemen farmers" until the early 1900's.
