This Surname Directory is really intended for those names which would not appear in the GEDCOM database because the “owners” of the surname have been born since 1900 and have no date of death, or for those members who do not have a computerised version of their tree and would still like to enter their main names.
If you want to add your surname interests to the Family Tree Forum website there are three ways to do it:
The best way is to add your own tree to the GEDCOM database which gives you the facility to search by name, place and/or year of birth.
Alternatively your names can be added to the relevant pages in the Surname Directory which appears in the Wiki
To add names to the Surname Directory, please post the details in a thread in the Reference Library Community Forum and one of the FTF team will add them on your behalf. Before you ask for them to be entered, please check that they do not already appear.
We also have a Surname Research forum where names can be added on dedicated A-Z threads.
N.B. The Surname Directory in the Wiki is only for surnames, not for individuals or for lookup requests. If you are looking for a specific individual you can ask for help on the Research Advice section of the Family Tree Forum.
