Petworth

  • St Mary is open daily. The church no longer uses the original font which is in a very small Baptistry. Modern christenings use what is probably a Saxon font which was discovered in the Rectory garden at neaby Tillington. The church stands close to Petworth House and its Wyndham family "own" St Thomas' chapel within the church, but unlike the private chapel of the Dukes of Norfolk at Arundel church it is open to the public without a fee.

I planning a visit parking will be difficult in the narrow streets, many are one way.
