|This photo of my father is c1942. Note the white gloves and the hat. It was designed to resemble the original flying helmet and it consisted of a leather skull cap trimmed with black rabbit fur. The helmet also featured an ostrich feather plume which was connected at an RAF badge. This helmet was never popular and junior officers were eventually permitted to wear the service dress hat on full dress occasions.

Herbert Edward Crisp (seated) served 1916-1919. This was taken in France, the back just has "Carte Postale" on. His unpolished boots are worn with the spurs which are still in his son's possession. The rough chair and visible floorboards suggest that the photo was taken under the difficult conditions of the time.

This photo of my father is c1942. Note the white gloves and the hat. It was designed to resemble the original flying helmet and it consisted of a leather skull cap trimmed with black rabbit fur.
