I have been interested in genealogy for about 25 years, but only began serious research 5 years ago. My main family names are:
HARRIS Portsmouth and Wiltshire
RANDALL Surrey and Warwickshire
BOXALL Surrey and Sussex
BLUNDEN Suffolk
NOAKES Moreton, Essex
JAMES Churchill, Oxfordshire
GALE Esher, Surrey
SMITH East Clandon, Surrey
SHEPPARD Bath, Somerset
SARGENT Looe, Cornwall
DUTTON Boston, Lincolnshire
LAST Suffolk
GODBOLD Suffolk
NUNN Suffolk and London
PARR Suffolk and London
POACHER Suffolk
My most enduring brick wall involves Caroline MANDLE, (Mandell/Mantle/Mantell), possibly from Hampshire, or possibly the Channel Islands, c 1800-1840
Then there is the Irish side, of which I know only that my Irish grandparents were called Thomas MCDERMOTT and Mary Ann O'HARA, who lived (and may have been born) in Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim.
Another big area of interest is the SCOTT family, who were Lords of Manor of Camberwell c 1300-1600, and who may, or may not have been related or associated with the Scott dynasty at Brabourne, Kent. The Camberwell family had either died out or fragmented completely by late 1600's, but with one line (I think!) migrating down to Horne in Surrey to become "gentlemen farmers" until the early 1900's.
