Civil Registration started in Malta in 1863. Prior to that birth may be recorded in Parish Records which started in the 1500s.
Few parish records are accessible;In the library in Valletta there is The Adami Collection which is of interest for genealogy purposes, as it has marriages listed from the Parish Registers.
